What to know about ParkPlus credits

ParkPlus credits are funds in your ParkPlus account that you can use to quickly and conveniently pay for parking on-street or at Calgary Parking lots and parkades. 

You can add ParkPlus credits by adding funds to your ParkPlus account. Most people purchase enough ParkPlus credits for a week or a month or earn them through seasonal parking deals and promotions. 

Here are some benefits of adding funds to your ParkPlus account: 

  • Pay only for the time you park: Start and stop your parking session as needed so you don’t pay for more time than you use. However, some lots charge a flat daily rate and require a flat daily rate payment even if you don’t use it all that time.
  • Credits for unused time: Any unused time (outside of minimum purchase conditions) will be credited to your account. The minimum purchase for on-street parking is $0.50 and the minimum in a surface lot or parkade is 30 minutes.
  • Fast activation: Pay from your device and easily start or end parking sessions without needing to go to a physical pay machine and potentially wait in line.
  • Park friends or family: To pay on behalf of a vehicle not registered to a ParkPlus account, use the Park a Friend feature on the MyParking App or ParkPlus for web. The licence plate must be registered on ParkPlus but can be attached to another account.  
  • Courtesy notifications: "Low balance notifications" can be enabled to send alerts when your ParkPlus account balance is low. You can select a threshold of $25, $50, or $100. You can also set up a phone or text alert to know when your parking session will expire.
  • Detailed reports: You can export detailed reports of your monthly parking transactions for the previous six months. The reports can be emailed to print or saved as a .pdf or .xlsx file. Easily separate reports by phone number. If you need reports for tax purposes, we recommend they be downloaded bi-yearly. For detailed reports longer than the previous six months, send an email request to parkplus@calgary.ca with the account information and timeframe. We'll be happy to send one to you.

Whether you're getting around for work, play or spending a day out, the ParkPlus credits in your ParkPlus account help you avoid stress and easily pay for parking. Visitors and other Calgarians without a ParkPlus account can conveniently use the Virtual Pay Machine to pay for parking.
