While exciting, New Year's Eve is also one of the busiest nights of the holidays. Ring in 2025 with five parking updates to remember ahead of the celebrations:
- Decide where to park before heading out for the celebrations. Regular rates will be in effect in on-street ParkPlus zones and all Calgary Parking parkades and surface lots. Accessible parking spots are available on-street, in parkades and surface lots for people who need them. Please understand and respect the importance of accessible parking.
- Visit our interactive Calgary On-street Parking Map to find parking rates and time limits for different types of on-street parking in Calgary. Looking for convenient and affordable places to park off-street? Check out our Calgary Parking Map.
- We make paid parking sessions easy. Stay warm, skip the lines at pay machines and pay for parking with a ParkPlus account or as a guest. As a guest, you can pay securely for a parking session without visiting the pay machine through the Virtual Pay Machine. With a ParkPlus account, you can pay securely for a parking session on the myParking mobile app, ParkPlus for web, text to park or call to park.
- Having a holiday get-together at home? Give your neighbours a heads-up about extra cars and remind your guests not to block driveways. Better yet, invite them! (Did you know? Most of the calls our officers receive are from people reporting their neighbours’ parking habits. Honestly, we really don’t want to show up to interrupt your celebrations and spoil the fun.) If you live in a residential parking permit zone, you can always submit a parking relaxation request via 311.
- Practice parking smart and safe on New Year’s Eve and use Waze for real-time traffic updates to keep yourself and others safe.
Getting home safely on New Year’s Eve
New Year's Eve brings heavy traffic and sometimes unpredictable weather. Celebrating responsibly and getting home safely is just as important as enjoying your evening. Here's how to make it happen:
- Plan a safe way home. If needed, park your car for the night and use a designated driver, taxi, rideshare, or transit. Safety first!
- Dress for the weather conditions and wear bright, reflective clothing.
- Be aware of potentially slippery conditions on roads, sidewalks and pathways. Wear footwear that provides traction on snow and ice. Find more winter walking tips.
New Year's Eve in Calgary is about more than just celebrations—it's about connecting with people, places and activities that matter most to you. By planning your parking, knowing how to stay safe and taking advantage of the resources available, you'll spend less time worrying and more time celebrating.
As you ring in 2025 with celebrations and holiday magic, we are excited to be among the first to wish you a Happy New Year!
